Anime Squadron Beginner Guide: Fast Progression Start

Anime Squadron beginner guide: redeem codes first, pull Fastwagon, save for the Selection banner, get an SSJ4 carry, and farm Primal Cores.

Most Anime Squadron accounts stall in the same place: the player pulls a hundred Gems' worth of random units, spreads their Trait Shards across three of them, and ends up with a roster that does nothing well. The fast start is not about luck. It is about doing four things in the right order during your first session. This guide is the order I would follow on a fresh account today.

First five minutes: redeem every code

Before you pull anything, before you even look at the banners, go to the codes menu and redeem everything current. Finish the short tutorial, tap the Codes button on the left side of the screen, and paste the active codes one at a time. They are case-sensitive.

Right now that is UPD0.75! (50 Rerolls, 1,000 Gems, 1,000 Gold, 3 Bounty Tickets), EventChanges (100 Trait Shards, 2,000 Gems, 10 Baras Coins), SryForLongMaintenance!! (50 Rerolls, 1,000 Gems), TheHeroHunter! (50 Rerolls), and StrongestChallenger! (10,000 Gold). That is roughly 3,000 free Gems and a pile of Rerolls and Shards handed to you for thirty seconds of typing. The current, timestamped list is on the codes page, and during early access it changes often, so check it the same day you start.

The economy unit comes before the carry

This is the step new players skip, and it is the one that compounds. The first unit you actually want is Fastwagon.

Fastwagon is an Epic at a 2.75% pull rate, so it is reachable from the Basic banner without heavy luck. Its damage is unremarkable. That is not the point. Fastwagon is the dedicated money unit (Falcon boosts Yen gain too) in the game. Its Wealthy trait and Yen gear set generate in-match currency, and Yen is what pays for your perks and crafting during a run. Build the economy first and every later unit comes online faster. Pull for Fastwagon early, before you spend big on damage dealers.

Save your Gems for the Selection banner

Here is the discipline that separates a fast account from a slow one: do not dump all 3,000 Gems into single Basic pulls.

The Basic banner is fine for early bodies and it is where Fastwagon lives, so a handful of pulls there is reasonable. But the smart target is the Selection banner, which opens at level 10. The Selection banner lets you lock one Mythic as the featured target, which turns a blind gamble into a focused hunt. At 50 Gems per pull, your 3,000 Gems is about 60 attempts, and pointed at a locked Mythic that is a genuine shot at a top-tier support or DPS. The summoning guide breaks down the banner math if you want the full odds picture before you spend.

Aim for one SSJ4 carry

With an economy unit running and a Mythic or two from the Selection banner, you want one real carry to build around. The most efficient choice is the Goki line, because it starts free and stays useful at every step.

Goki (base) is a default Common. Evolve it to Goki (SSJ4 FP), an A-tier Mythic DPS that carries early content on its own, and reroll its trait toward Superior at that stage. That Full Power form is also step two of the road to Gometa (SSJ4), the game's top DPS carry, so none of the investment is wasted. You get a working damage dealer now and a path to an S-tier carry later, from one unit.

If you would rather pick a different endgame carry, the tier list lays out the other evolve-only Secrets and their raid requirements.

Make the daily loop a habit

Progression past the first session is a routine, not a grind session. The four daily tasks that matter:

  • Collect the AFK Chamber every login for passive Gems, Gold, and Rerolls.
  • Clear three daily challenges, which feed currencies and evolution mats.
  • Run one raid for evolution materials, including the Primal Cores that the Gometa fusion needs.
  • Check for new codes, because the cadence is near-daily right now.

Primal Cores are the bottleneck on every top evolution, and they only come from steady daily play. Treat the raid run as non-negotiable and the Cores accumulate while you do everything else.

Spend Gold on the right perks

Gold is your account-level currency, separate from the in-match Yen that Fastwagon generates. You earn a big early lump from StrongestChallenger! (10,000 Gold) and UPD0.75! (1,000 Gold), and the temptation is to spend it on crafting right away. Hold some for perks instead.

Perks are permanent account upgrades bought with Gold, and the priority order is clear: Maximum Yen first, then Yen Generation, then Health. The first two stack with Fastwagon's economy, so they compound. Every point of Yen efficiency you buy early pays off in every run afterward. Health perks are fine later, but they do not multiply the way the Yen perks do, so they wait.

This is the quiet reason the economy-first plan works. Fastwagon plus the two Yen perks turns a slow, cash-starved run into one where your whole squad deploys on schedule. Damage units are only as good as your ability to afford putting them on the board.

What not to do in your first week

  • Do not reroll traits on units you have not decided to keep. Shards are scarce. Save them for a confirmed carry.
  • Do not evolve before rerolling. Roll the trait first so it carries forward.
  • Do not chase three Secret evolutions at once. Finish one.
  • Do not ignore Fastwagon because its damage number looks small.
  • Do not blow every Gem on Basic single pulls before you reach the Selection banner.

Redeem codes, build the economy, save for Selection, evolve one Goki line, and log in daily for Cores. Do those five things and you will be ahead of most accounts a week in. None of it depends on a lucky pull, which is the whole point: the players who progress fastest are the ones who do the boring order correctly, not the ones who get a rare drop. When your Gems are ready to spend, the summoning guide will tell you exactly when to pull.
